MLC week11
It’s typical for a new technology to be adapted within a culture and used to support existing patterns of behavior. With your own relevant examples, answer these questions.
1) What kind of culture influences through technology can you see from today’s world?
2) Is there a possibility to reshape the (new) culture today via new technology, How?
1) For me, Internet was the very influences nowadays. The Internet is a global network of interconnected computers, enabling users to share information along multiple channels. Typically, a computer that connects to the Internet can access information from a vast array of available servers and other computers by moving information from them to the computer's local memory. The same connection allows that computer to send information to servers on the network; that information is in turn accessed and potentially modified by a variety of other interconnected computers. A majority of widely accessible information on the Internet consists of inter-linked hypertext documents and other resources of the World Wide Web (WWW).
In normal use, web browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Apple Safari, access web pages and allow users to navigate from one to another via hyperlinks. Through keyword-driven Internet research using search engines like Yahoo! and Google, millions of people worldwide have easy, instant access to a vast and diverse amount of online information.

2) In my opinion, I think there’s a possibility to reshape the (new) culture today via new technology. It was online shopping. Online shopping is the process consumers go through to purchase products or services over the Internet. An online shop, eshop, e-store, internet shop, webshop, webstore, online store, or virtual store evokes the physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or in a shopping mall.
The metaphor of an online catalog is also used, by analogy with mail order catalogs. All types of stores have retail web sites, including those that do and do not also have physical storefronts and paper catalogs. Online shopping is a type of electronic commerce used for business-to-business and business-to-consumer transactions. Through using online shopping, we can don't worried about the trasportation problem, we can stay comfortable at home and chosing what the stock you want and pay through online.

MLC week10
The documentary entitled "The Power of Nightmares (Part 3 - Shadow in the Cave)" by Adam Curtis was shown in class on Monday. How do you relate the information given to you in the documentary to the theory of Media Imperialism that we talked about in lecture?
As we know, Media Imperialism is the idea that powerful and wealthy countries can exercise economic, cultural and social control over others through control of media industries. It also can be definite as a theory stating that smaller countries are losing their identity due to the force-feeding of media from larger nations. Media imperialism is not just seen internationally. But their power and authority came from the optimistic visions they offered to their people. Those dreams failed. And today, people have lost faith in ideologies.
Inside the video is about two group of story. The American neoconservatives and the radical Islamists. The wars between this two groups had killed a lot of people. For example, two huge suicide bombs were detonated outside American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, killing more than 200 people. This showed how Media Imperialism affect societies so much.
Critical thinking 2
The Power of Nightmares, subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear, is a BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis. The films compare the rise of the Neo-Conservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and claiming similarities between the two. It's argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organised force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries—and particularly American Neo-Conservatives—in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies. This flim has been praised by film critics in both Britain and the United States. Its message and content have also been the subject of various critiques and criticisms from conservatives and progressives.

Personal thinking
The assignment 2 that need to pass up in this week will be postponed to next week only pass up, because lecturer asks us to add something inside. Sigh, need to do again.
On the side, the blog assignment for this week is very difficult for me, I’m not really understood about it.
I’ve learn about the media concept from the slide that given by lecturer. The slide is about the concept of media, for example like type of hot media and cool media.
MLC week9
The social processes underlying the adoption of a technology/medium by dividing its effects into four categories. There are enhances, reverse, retrieves and obsolesces. According from the note given by lecturer, McLuhan developed a basis for his thought around what he termed the tetrad. The tetrad allowed McLuhan to apply four laws, framed as questions, to a wide spectrum of mankind's endeavors, and thereby give us a new tool for looking at our culture. The tetrad is a means of examining the effects on society of any technology or medium.
Critical thinking2
What does it (the medium or technology) extend?
In the case of the blogging it would be the paper writing.
What does it make obsolete?
Again, one might answer that the blogging makes paper writing obsolete. Blogging can substitute the pen ink or pencil to write in a piece of paper.
What is retrieved?
The sense of composition returns with the typewrite of the blog.
What does the technology reverse into if it is over extended?
It’s a very insecure way to type any private thing in the blog and it will be easiest hack by hacker.
